Birds est un plan séquence tourné à Nice en novembre 2004. Il montre en un plan fixe des nuées d'oiseaux qui tentent malgré leur nombre impressionnant de se percher sur les branches fatiguées d'un arbre. L'activité frénétique qui en résulte est au centre de l'œuvre et constitue une matière fluide en constante redéfinition . La multitude d'oiseaux est très dense et se confond aisément dans son fourmillement avec les feuilles restées accrochées sur le végétal. Le contraste de l'image a été accentué afin d'amplifier le sentiment de confusion amené par les noirs profonds des volatils et des feuilles. Cet arbre grouillant de créatures dont l'effacement derrière ses feuilles est une possibilité en est d'autant plus inquiétant. Cette magie de l'image en mouvement permanent se révèle alors fascinante et pleine de surprises.GB

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Birds is a sequence shot in Nice in November 2004. It shows a steady shot of a cloud of birds trying to perch on the branches of an old tree even though they are much too numerous. The frenzied activity resulting from this movement is central in this work and constitutes a fluid material, constantly redefined. The multitude of birds is very dense and merges easily with the leaves remaining on the tree. The image’s contrast has been accentuated in order to amplify the feeling of confusion coming with the deep blacks in the birds and leaves. The tree, which could eventually disappear behind the crawling creatures and leaves becomes even more disturbing. The magic of the permanently moving image reveals itself as fascinating and full of surprises.
