THIRTEEN

Thirteen turns us into the witness of two young teenagers’ activities, playing with firecrackers in the middle of the night. The theatrical and pseudo dramatist aspect of this cheap terrorism is emphasized by the high angle over the scene, a few shots with a steady framing cut out and the public lightening. The two characters play scaring themselves and testing there power over urban furniture, vainly tempting to blow up a ticket machine, and then juggling among the night passer-bys, pretending not to be doing anything wrong. The excitement and joy are tangible in such accomplice moments with a friend, when you dream on planning adventures, and you try to make everyday elements your own experimenting ground; testing the limits of what is acceptable using firecrackers.
The video’s image has been contrasted and transformed into black and white, in order to emphasize the “security camera “ style, as to make a new echo to their own fictional creation.
