Winterdreams

Winterdreams is a series of paintings who deals with the question of landscape. Each painting has been made with a special process I conceived, experimenting with painting. Their elaboration is pretty fast and based on the question of what constitutes a landscape and the limits between figuration and abstraction in landscape painting. I spread some points of black Glycero painting on the canvas and some flows of painting in a Pollock style to symbolise the horizons line and the other drawings of the landscapes. Then I use a plastic sheet to transform the paintings, scraping it on the canvas like could do Pierre Soulage to give a three dimentional illusion to the composition. Taking distance viewing that series is necessary to experiment fully the illusion. These simple dispositions of black painting create real impressions of snow landscapes, giving the feeling that the viewer is surrounded by black trees in a total silent like in a forest in the winter.
