GILLES BALMET

Painters is a long video sequence shot from a balcony with a fixed frame. It shows two house painters working on scaffolding. They are painting a new building, covering it with a white coating in a kind of musical ballet where they create a dialogue between their movements. The camera has recorded during their work a pearly type of colors in interaction with the sun, which adds an emotional dimension to their relation. They are creating an artistic form without knowing it, only working and being recorded by the camera, crossing the space and playing with the scaffolding as the element of a theatre set.
