SEE AN EXTRACT OF THE VIDEO

This installation consists both in a video projection of a seaside postcard of the Algerian cost in the seventies and a soundtrack. I have made a series of digital images from these seaside postcards, using the Photoshop software. I wanted to use some effects of the touching up of the image in this video for their esthetic value. A digital effect called « magic wand » is used on a postcard and filmed, making the sun reflects on the sea more lively and giving a sensual rhythm to the pixels’ movement. This nostalgic work of art emphasized by the improvised sounds of a synthesizer evokes a solar atmosphere and gives a voluntarily naive and fantasy vision of Algeria in the seventies. The general atmosphere, in particular the sound, is still a little troubling and evokes the historical taboo of these days, remaining in some families.
